The Paradox of Pruning

Nature has much to teach us and is worthy of much contemplation.
Do you ever see a tree which has been severely pruned pull up its
roots, go over to another field and sulk? Go cry on another trees
branches? Get depressed cause the birds might not come back? Does a
tree ever hold a grudge against the ax? Does this tree stop being a
tree just because it's lost some of its growth?
What does a tree do instead? It may take sometime, but that tree will
grow fresh new shoots from where its been pruned to produce more of
what its intrinsic nature of being that particular tree. It may even
push a new shoot up from it's very roots, along side itself in an
effort to reproduce itself. You've seen that haven't you? I have a
liquid amber doing that very thing.
What happens when you get a "severe pruning" in your life? Do you give
up? Talk about it with your friends to gain sympathy? Do you wallow in
your "pruning" and allow it to be the new growth? Does it stunt your
growth?
The Master Creator designed "pruning" of growing things to be a way of
allowing the stimulation of new growth to occur. Imagine a fruit tree
that is left to its own devices. Lets choose a lemon tree. I love lemon
trees, their fragrant leaves, pretty flowers and ripe fruit are just a
delight. Even though you think lemons are sour, what would gin and
tonic be without them lol or imagine a lemon merange pie without
lemons. When you prune a lemon tree, as with all fruit trees, the
growing goes into making sweeter, juicer more bountiful fruitier fruit.
The tree becomes denser with what it is supposed to do - what it is
designed to do - produce lemons. The gardener who looks after the tree
knows this, and will take the saw to the tree. It's actually an act of
love to do so. How lucky that particular lemon tree is to have a
gardener who knows how to get the best out of it!
For us human beings, we can interpret this pruning as painful and
undesirable. I would like to open your mind to the seeing the paradox
in this.
To be moved out of your comfort zone and into growth, some kind of
event happens that causes something that creates an undesirable feeling
or outcome. And it can hurt! There is no denying it. I've cried from
being 'pruned' too!
What is this really?
When you experience this discomfort, you are really undergoing a type
of pruning of your life. Examine what is before your eyes and see what
it really is. This event, will create some kind of action from you. It
will put you up against it and open choices for you. It may not be
apparent to you what those choices are. But let me assure you - that at
every moment and that very moment - you are ALWAYS at choice.
The paradox is, that without experiencing this "pruning" along the
journey of your life, you will become old wood, learn less of what life
is about. Its designed to allow you to grow and learn the lessons of
your life. Learn to embrace the 'pruning' in your life and see the
truth behind it.
Ask, what can I learn from this? It's your intrinsic nature to learn
grow and seek out the inner truth of life. Just like the lemon tree's
intrinsic nature is to produce lemons so yours is to produce growth and
bountiful GOOD fruit.
Remember, you have choices even if you don't think so - that too is a choice.
