back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and
creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills
countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely
commits oneself, the providence moves too. A whole stream of events
issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of
unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man
could have dreamt would have come his way.”
William Hutchinson Murray
What does this mean? and Why is commitment such a misunderstood concept?
Commitment is the binding of yourself to a course of ACTION! No that is
not a swear word! It means you BECOME that to which you are committed
to. Before commitment comes decision and its decision that creates
commitment, and its commitment which creates momentum in action.
Commitment is the bridge between decision and outcomes. Its the ACTION
step that we so often dont do. Its why when looking at whether you do
or do not have that thing in your life, finding out if you have
commitment.
When things are going well, you can say your commitment level is high.
Now say, you aren't achieving what you set out to do. Are you
committed? I would say NOT. Why? Because remember a moment ago I said
in the definition that commitment carries with it the idea of 'binding"
oneself to a course of action. To use and image for you, it means your
binding is coming undone.
So the answer when you are assessing your life, is if your outcomes are
quite what you expected, then you are then able to ask yourself about
your seriousness of commitment. There are times, when we think we
commit to something, and don't get it that it might be, you really
didn't want that thing.
Make sure, you want what you want then...... BIND yourself with ACTION
as this is your MOMENTUM in creating. And its called Commitment...
Does this give you a new perspective?
