The First Pillar of NLP

aThe First Pillar of NLP: Outcomes
Pillar One: Outcomes

What do you want? Scary question to ask and more to answer! Most people NEVER ask this let alone adequately answer. Instead they go through life drifting like a life raft cast to sea from a sinking ship and wonder why they don't have what they want being pushed by the wind in any direction. Yet knowing what you want in life is essential part of actually getting IT, you know that what ever it is. In every day life we talk of having a goal or an aim, but in NLP we use a different term: outcome . There is enormous value in knowing what your outcome is for any particular situation and is the reason it is a Pillar that NLP is built on. Focusing on what you want, helps you to orientate all your resources towards achieving it.

Outcomes can be small such as tidying the office, or large such as finding the partner of your dreams. Perhaps structuring your finances so you can retire at a relatively young age to enjoy your hard work. At any one time, people have many outcomes for different areas of their life with differing time frames to achieve them.

NLP offers a comprehensive process for refining outcomes to make them "well formed" that is describing them in detail and imagining what it is like to have them already. The more clearly you know what you want the more likely you are to get achieve it.

Tasks for you dear reader:

Ask yourself "what do you want?" and see what you come up with.
