The Second Pillar of NLP : Sensory Acuity
Sensory acuity is 'the capacity to observe or detect fine details', and NLP's second pillar concerns your senses. This means, you are highly aware of what is going on around you. People vary enormously is what and how much they notice by looking listening and feeling. Whilst some are extremely observant this is not the rule with most people. Most people have their focus of attention on their own thoughts.
So, close your eyes for a moment and describe as accurately as you can your surroundings. The wall colour, floor, chair you are sitting on, any ornaments or pictures. Describe the detail. People in the room if they are there, the colour of their eyes, wearing, any nuances about them. This simple exercise highlights how much we leave out, how much we don't focus on or are unaware of.
Sensory acuity in NLP is considered important because it gives you so much more information about whether what you are doing is giving you what you want - this means- moving you towards your outcomes. What is it you want? Say you are in business. Pay careful attention to what is happening around you. It can mean the difference between success or failure.
By learning and paying attention to sensory acuity it will give you much more behavioural flexibility and the abilty to adjust to move more towards yoru outcomes. This may seem obvious but do not under estimate the power and practicality of what it is. Many people do for lack of understanding, practice education or importance.
Learn practice and become proficient in sensory acuity. It will serve you well
