What is Hypnosis

Hypnosis is ‘trance’, or a state that we are more familiar with of ‘daydreaming’. It is a state of extreme suggestibility, heightened imagination and relaxation. It’s not really like ‘sleep’ even though we say ‘sleep’, as you are alert the whole time, rather more like ‘tuning out’ to your surrounding distractions and focus intently on the subject and hand to the near exclusion of all other thought. In this state, you are said to be in ‘trance’ and hypnotized. You most likely can associate to this feeling if you remember a time, when you watched the television and don’t remember what you watched for the past 3 hours, cant you? This heightened state of suggestibility is what makes Hypnosis so special working with the unconscious mind as this is the place to effect change at a deep and lasting level.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a two way process between the therapist and the client, and a professional partnership. A person cannot be hypnotised unless he or she agrees and co-operates - this cannot be stressed enough.Whilst being in ‘trance’ your Hypnotherapist can make suggestions to your unconscious mind that you want the change for, whilst any suggestions that goes against your values and morals will be rejected and most likely you will come out of ‘trance’. You are in total control at all times.

How Will I feel?
Hynosis is likened to being very relaxed, in a dream like state yet awake and aware. Similar to how you feel when you are deeply engrossed in a book you are reading to the exclusion of external stimluli. You remember a time when that happened and someone was speaking you to you and you weren't aware of it?

What's a Hynotherapy session involve?

Firstly, we will take a detailed personal history to establish exactly why you are seeking consultation, and this can take some time depending on why you are here. Then, an session can take about an hour at at time. You will feel in control, relaxed at all times. Then, you will have a follow up phone call to assess your results.
